It's not uncommon to see a Pendulum Summon of two monsters when there's a loaded Extra Deck just in case their opponent has Solemn Strike waiting in their backrow. By and large, Solemn Strike 's clearly one of the best Counter Traps in the game right now, but getting attacked several times in a row from Normal Summoned monsters can be pretty embarrassing.

Solemn Warning is usually strictly better than Strike because it stops so much more. I suppose you could argue that Solemn Warning is sometimes worse than Strike because it can't stop monster effects that aren't Special Summoning something, but that's a tough argument to really sell.

Because Warning can stop the monster itself from being Summoned in the first place, the only effects it really has trouble with are ones that don't require the monster to be summoned and don't Special Summon anything. Right now I'd say the biggest two that fall under that category are Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss and Erebus the Underworld Monarch , both of which activate in the graveyard and avoid Warning.

Still, in most cases Warning is going to be better than Solemn Strike , although you're way less likely to search or draw it in the first place. All hope is not lost, though. That lets you use Scolding next, but it's a risky move. If your opponent happens to have Twin Twisters your setup's completely ruined. Honestly, I think the ideal starting field for Draco Pals with those three aforementioned cards backed with a Dinoster Power, the Mighty Dracoslayer.

That's an incredibly threatening opening, and basically wins the game right there unless your opponent has a very specific hand.
